South Kolkata Hamari Muskan is an anti trafficking organisation working in Kolkata since 2009. It works in the red light areas of Sonagachi and Bowbazar with the children, adolescents and women survivors to protect them from different forms of violence and abuse and to build their confidence and resilience so that they can choose a dignified life.

A Brief History

South Kolkata Hamari Muskan (SKHM) is the brainchild of Srabani Sarkar Neogi, a social development activist, with 20 years of working experience in red light areas (RLAs) with women in prostitution (WIP) and (their) children.

Volunteer

South Kolkata Hamari Muskan welcomes volunteers to work with its children, youths and mothers in the Bowbazaar and Shonagachhi centres.

Our job is not just to plug trafficking or second- or third-generation prostitution: our goal is to use educational and psychological interventions to create an ultimate resilient being: one who allows no torture, no injustice against self or society; one who can unite others to start a movement and create an egalitarian world.
